Why Choose Metal Roofing?
Metal is one of the most durable and resilient roofing choices available, which is why metal roof installation has become so popular across the Greater Tampa Bay area for both homes and commercial buildings. A quality metal roof can last for decades, far longer than a typical shingle roof, and it stands up to the high winds, heavy rain, and intense sun that come with Florida weather. Metal also reflects solar heat instead of absorbing it, which can lower cooling costs and support energy efficiency.
Metal roofing is also versatile. It comes in exposed-fastener panels that are economical and efficient to install, as well as concealed-fastener standing seam systems that offer a sleek, premium look with fewer leak points. Whether you need residential metal roofing for a single-family home or commercial metal roofing services for a warehouse, retail building, or office, there is a metal system suited to the job. Metal is low-maintenance and fully recyclable at the end of its long life.
DryFL Construction Group installs, repairs, and maintains the full range of metal systems, working with trusted metal manufacturers. Our team helps you weigh panel type, metal, finish, and budget to ensure a metal roof engineered for your property and Florida conditions.
Metal also performs where it matters most in Florida. Quality metal systems can be installed to meet Florida Building Code wind-uplift requirements and the High-Velocity Hurricane Zone standards that apply along the coast, and many panels carry strong fire and impact ratings, often Class A for fire and Class 4 for impact. Reflective, cool-roof finishes can lower attic temperatures and cooling costs, and because metal is impact and wind-resistant, a new metal roof may also help you qualify for insurance premium discounts or wind mitigation credits, though that depends on your insurer and policy.

Metal Roofing FAQs
What are the key benefits of choosing metal roofing for your property with DryFL Construction Group?
Metal roofing offers decades of service life, excellent wind resistance, energy-saving heat reflection, low maintenance, and full recyclability, along with a wide range of styles for homes and businesses. With DryFL, you also get honest inspections, manufacturer-backed materials, and workmanship we stand behind. We are licensed and insured, we offer financing options, and we install metal to meet Florida Building Code wind requirements so your roof performs when it matters most.
What types of metal roofing systems does DryFL Construction Group offer?
We install both exposed-fastener metal roofs and concealed-fastener standing seam systems, in steel and aluminum, with a choice of paint finishes. Exposed-fastener options include classic rib panels, 5V panels, and structural PBR panels, while standing seam is available in screw-strip, snap-lock, and mechanical-seam configurations. You can find a full breakdown in the Types of Metal Roofs section below, and we are happy to recommend the right system during your inspection.
How much does metal roof installation cost?
There is no single price for a metal roof, as costs depend on the system and the building. The most accurate way to get a real number is to schedule a free inspection, where we measure the roof, review your options, and provide a clear, written quote. We are also glad to walk through how your choices, such as panel type and finish, affect the total cost of your project.
What factors affect the total cost of a metal roofing installation project?
Key factors include the panel type (exposed-fastener or standing seam), the metal and its gauge (steel or aluminum), the paint finish you choose, the size, pitch, and complexity of the roof, the amount of tear-off, the condition of the decking, the trim and flashing detailing required, and access to the roof. Coastal exposure and code upgrades can also affect the scope. We document all of this during your inspection, so the quote you receive reflects your actual roof.
What is the average lifespan of a professionally installed metal roof?
A professionally installed metal roof typically lasts 40 to 70 years, and many standing seam systems reach 50 years or more with minimal maintenance. That is roughly two to three times the life of a typical shingle roof. The metal, the finish, coastal salt exposure, and the quality of installation all influence where a given roof lands in that range.
How does metal roofing compare to other roofing materials in terms of durability and longevity?
Metal outlasts asphalt shingles, which typically last about 15 to 25 years in Florida, by several decades. Its longevity is comparable to tile, but metal is lighter, which puts less load on the structure, and it offers excellent wind and impact resistance with very little maintenance. For property owners focused on long-term durability and storm performance, metal is one of the strongest choices available.
What are the most common metal roofing materials, and how do they compare?
The two most common metals are steel and aluminum. Steel is strong and economical, and it resists rust with galvanized or Galvalume coatings. Though panels can corrode if those coatings are breached, such breaches are usually only an issue near salt water. Aluminum is naturally corrosion-resistant, lighter, and maintains its resilience when scratched, making it a top choice for coastal properties, but it usually costs more. Stone-coated steel is a related option that adds a textured, tile-like finish over a steel core. We help you choose the metal and panel type that best fit your location, goals, and budget.
What are the signs that a metal roof needs repair?
Common signs include loose or backed-out fasteners, failed sealant or lifted flashing, surface corrosion or rust streaks on steel panels, loosened seams, dents from impact, and any interior leaks or ceiling stains. After a storm or fallen branch, impact damage and displaced panels are frequent issues. Prompt attention from experienced metal roof repair contractors keeps water out and protects the rest of the system.
How do I know whether I need metal roof repair or full replacement?
Repair is usually the right choice when the problem is localized, such as a damaged panel, loose flashing, or a failed seal, and the rest of the roof is sound. Replacement makes more sense when corrosion or seam failure is widespread, or the roof has reached the end of its service life. A professional inspection provides an honest assessment so you can decide between targeted repairs and full metal roof replacement services.
Why should I choose DryFL Construction Group for metal roofing services?
DryFL brings over 30 years of combined experience, relationships with trusted metal manufacturers, and a reputation for honest inspections and quality workmanship. We are licensed and insured, offer financing options, and handle everything from residential and commercial metal roof installation to repair, inspections, and maintenance across the Greater Tampa Bay area. Our goal on every project is the same: we protect your property and keep you dry.
Is a metal roof noisy when it rains?
Not when it is installed correctly. Over solid decking with a quality underlayment, a modern metal roof is about as quiet inside as any other roofing system, and most homeowners do not notice rain any more than they would under shingles or tile.
How does a metal roof perform in a hurricane?
Very well. Metal roofs, and standing seam systems in particular, resist wind uplift better than most materials when they are installed to Florida Building Code requirements. Interlocking panels and properly engineered fasteners help the roof stay intact in high winds, which is a major reason metal is popular along the Tampa Bay coast.
Can a metal roof lower my home insurance in Florida?
It may. Wind and impact-resistant roofs can qualify for wind mitigation credits or premium discounts with some Florida insurers, and a new roof generally improves insurability. The exact savings depend on your insurer, your policy, and the results of a wind mitigation inspection, so we recommend confirming with your provider. If a wind mitigation inspection will help reduce your rates or provide you with peace of mind, we are happy to provide one for your property.
Is metal roofing energy efficient?
Yes. Metal reflects solar heat instead of absorbing it, and reflective cool-roof finishes can further reduce attic temperatures and cooling costs in the Florida sun. Many finishes are Energy Star rated, making metal one of the more energy-efficient roofing options available.
Types of Metal Roofs
Exposed Fastener Metal Roofs
Exposed-fastener metal roofs attach to the roof with screws driven through the face of the panel, making them economical and efficient to install. They are a dependable workhorse for many homes, outbuildings, and commercial or industrial structures. The most common ribbed, semi-structural version is often called classic rib, and TuffRib is a brand name we often use. Depending on the panel, an exposed-fastener system can be installed with or without decking. Because the fasteners are exposed, they should be checked periodically throughout the roof’s life, which we cover during routine metal roof maintenance.
5V Panels
The 5V panel is a non-structural metal panel installed over decking, and it is a popular choice for residential applications. Named for the V-shaped ribs along its profile, 5V offers a clean, traditional look that suits many Florida homes while delivering the durability and weather resistance metal is known for.
PBR Panels
PBR, short for Purlin Bearing Rib, is a structural panel commonly used in commercial and industrial applications for both roofs and exterior wall siding. Their strength lets them span wider purlin spacing and meet demanding structural and wind-uplift requirements, making them well-suited to warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and similar buildings where load capacity and performance come first.
Concealed Fastener / Standing Seam
Concealed-fastener panels, better known as standing seam, hide the fasteners beneath raised, interlocking seams, reducing leak points and creating a sleek, premium appearance. DryFL installs standing seam in three main configurations.
The screw-strip standing seam with a 1-inch rib (brand name Permashield) is the most economical of the three. The clip-attached snap-lock with a 1.5-inch rib (brand name DuraShield) is used when the taller, squared seam aesthetic is preferred. The mechanical seam with a 1.5-inch or 2-inch rib (brand name Mastershield) has its seams mechanically crimped to achieve maximum wind and water resistance.
Standing seam panels come in a variety of colors and in two paint types: SPM, a silicone-modified polyester, and KYNAR500, a premium fade-resistant finish. Metal panels carry a manufacturer’s warranty, and our installation is backed by a DryFL workmanship warranty.
